| The Oratory is easily reached from the M6 and M5 motorways, which run by the city. From the M6 junction 6, take the A38 Expressway towards the city centre, over a flyover and through two underpasses, until the first set of traffic lights. Turn right and continue on Islington Row to Five Ways roundabout. Take the second exit on to Hagley Road. Following the signs for the Plough & Harrow Hotel, turn right at the second set of traffic lights into Monument Road then right again into Plough & Harrow Road. The entrance to the Oratory carpark is to the right, immediately behind the Church. From the M5 junction 3, follow the road for Birmingham city centre (A456, Hagley Road) for about two miles, passing through Quinton and Bearwood to Edgbaston. At the traffic lights signed for the Jewellery Quarter and the Plough & Harrow Hotel, turn left into Monument Road then right into Plough & Harrow Road. |

| Birmingham is a major rail interchange, so connexions across the country are excellent, and major enhancement work underway on the West Coast Main Line, will substantially cut journey times from London, Glasgow and intermediate cities. Currently, Virgin run two trains per hour from London Euston, with the faster trains taking approximately 1 hour 40 minutes to Birmingham New Street; thence proceed by 'bus, or by connecting train to Five Ways station which is 10-15 minutes' walk from the Oratory. Slower – but less expensive and most picturesque – is the Chiltern route from London Marylebone to Birmingham Snow Hill; thence by 'bus from Colemore Row outside the station. | Those travelling by coach will arrive at the National Express Coach Station, currently situated in Digbeth, but soon to move to smart new premises close by S. Chad’s Cathedral. Its current location is of interest in being adjacent to the site where the first Birmingham Oratory was established by Newman at Alcester Street. The 126 'bus stops at the rear of the retail market close by the coach station, and passes up the Hagley Road to the Oratory. |

| By 'Bus Most of the routes to Hagley Road from the city centre leave either from Colmore Row near the Anglican Cathedral of S. Philip the Apostle (including routes 9, 109, 139), or from Corporation Street (outside ‘Beatties’), including routes 120, 128 and 129. Alight at the Highfield Road/Plough & Harrow stop. |

| By Aeroplane Birmingham International Airport is about 8 miles from the city centre, close to Birmingham International rail station, with very frequent trains into New Street. Direct trains also run to New Street from Stansted Airport. Other airport rail-links mostly require a change of trains. There are direct regular coach services to Birmingham Coach Station from all the major airports in the UK. |
